What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Working together with clients is key to me. I make recommendations on locations, having the client choose. I am available for any consultations on clothing and colors to wear. After a session, while I am processing the images, I send the client a "sneak peek" of what we captured. I then deliver the final product to a password protected Website for them to enjoy.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started this business in 2008, with the belief in constantly honing my craft. I have attended many workshops and conferences that allow me to continually learn.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I have a standard pricing system in place for headshots and portraits. Each offering is well outlined so customers know what to expect.
How did you get started in this business?
When I started my business in 2008, I focused on portraits. Within two years I moved to predominantly shooting weddings. I moved to Italy in 2012 shooting engagements, family sessions and tourist agencies. Upon returning the the US, I focus mainly on portraits but have also shot weddings and other events.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I've worked with quite a variety of customers over the years. Newborns, nervous grooms and toddlers who wanted no part of the session. There are many people who want to get it over with, the toddlers are just more vocal. I love documenting pivotal moments, new babies, Senior photos or large family portraits at the beach.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I've done more Senior Portraits and one stands out. This young woman radiated excitement. She was so fun and happy to work with. We played with the sunlight as she just twirled around in a white dress. The images were everything, telling the story of graduation and moving on.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Look at the body of work from photographers. Make sure you see different images in a variety of settings. Don't hesitate to ask questions or describe what you are looking for.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Every customer is different for a variety of reasons. Discuss previous images you've seen shot by the photographer. Use it as an example of what you are looking for. If you are a large family, it's important to discuss the ages of your children and what works best for them. If it is an outdoor shoot, these are most likely natural light dependent, so timing of these is key.
