About

I believe besides delivering stunning images to my clients they particularly like the calm and low key way I approach them. This enables people to be comfortable immediately, and the fact that I just smile automatically helps them to easily smile back in a natural way. For weddings this is particularly important and I want to contribute to the enjoyment and calm background of the day. All things flowing smoothly is a plus. And the excitement and fun can come naturally that way!

I love to see people at their best, which means happy, at ease, and authentic in their smile and eyes. This is what I look for in my photography. I find the fun and share it. I show my clients as I am working what we have shot, to get constant feed back of what they are liking best and we do more. I always enjoy myself, and it spreads. A favorite compliment is from guys that have been good sports to do a photo shoot, is when they say, "That was fun, I didn't think it would be but it was!"

Frequently asked questions

I love to meet with my customer before our photo shoot if we are doing a wedding.  If I am doing portraiture I like to have phone or email conversations until we know we are on the same page and have selected a location for our photo shoot.

I spent ten years working in Hollywood, in professional modeling and television film and TV commercials, also I worked as a profession model in Paris and Zurich in the early 70's.  This gave me a tremendous knowledge of not only what works for the photographer but has enabled me to be a good director of talent, the person in front of the camera.  I know how it is!

My pricing can be a bit flexible.  This depends on what final product you want to have.  I like to give my client the digital negatives, and this will reflect into the pricing. Generally if you are doing portraits, anywhere from $250 to $375 will cover what you want.  Elaborate or location shoots post my normal driving distance will reflect an additional cost. Wedding packages I have listed on my webpage, which include lots of details.  I do enjoy designing wedding books for those interested.  I print in Italy.

I started as a photographer as an offshoot of being a professional model, spending so many hours in photography studios and on sets for TV. I started shooting architecture and nature when I was 17 yrs old.  I had my own darkroom by the time I was 19yrs. old.  I have taught photo classes, but most enjoy being independent so I may shoot what I want.  I spent the 90's photographing for various wine oriented magazines including several covers.  I also did lots of advertising ad images/ stock images at that time.

My professional name companies I shall skip.  If you are interested, check out my site.  The kind of people I like to work with best, are those that value photography as something more than a telephone photo.  Those are great, but I prefer to create something that is indredibly authentic about the person. I want the essence of the individual to speak through their eyes. That does not always mean smiling. I do lots of quiet looks, pensive, thoughtful, pleasant whatever it is that says you.

I love elopements! Great fun to have time to really do some great couple photos without the pressure of getting back to the party.  I do them often. I like to photograph babies, and little ones. I have been adding to my prop collection this last year for a real concentration this year.  I always love engagment photos because I get to see people in love that are free to act that way. Cool stuff happens!

Look at the work.  Find out your costs including any picture you will walk out the door with. Try not to be fooled about someone that photographs for a give away price only to find that the pictures now will cost you way more than you planned. Good to have things in writing or a contract spelling it out. Email is also helpful to have it written out in plain language.

1) Customer needs to know what they are looking for and be honest about it. If you are planning on using a portrait, for business purposes, be sure to mention it first.  You may find it needs to be licensed for commercial use which is another issue.

2) Find out what you receive for your money, don't assume.
