Hair-I-Rock is an exclusive, by appointment only business - owned and operated by Master Colorist/Stylist and Certified Extension Specialist Jackie DeStefano. It is operated within the Georgia Rose Salon, located in Riverview, FL. Hair-I-Rock specializes in all aspects of hair coloring services, precision and personalized cuts, wedding and formal updos or styles, and also hair extension services. I have been a licensed cosmetologist since 2009 and business owner since 2015. I love to learn and to expand my knowledge by attending classes and conventions as regularly as possible. I enjoy being a well versed and well rounded stylist, but my truest passion is coloring. I have 12+ years experience in not only hair color but artistry as well, which lends significantly to my abilities in giving a client the well-executed, desired result.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The first and most important part of a service with a new guest of mine is their consultation. Consultations are free, done by themselves or included at the start of their visit. Consulting can take from 15-30 minutes and in doing so allows for a more accurate and precise service, making sure my guest is getting exactly what they want. It also allows for professional suggestion, insight on what can and will be done, price quotes, and understanding the maintenance of the service at home and in future visits.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a licenced cosmetologist since 2009. I am a certified Master Colorist and I am also certified with 5 different hair extension companies. I have attended many trade shows and classes, including Premiere Beauty Expo which is a yearly event that I have attended every year of my career.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing is mostly based on time, while some services are a set price. As an example; a retouch or root color service is $100-125 with a haircut included. Custom coloring is $75/per hour.
How did you get started in this business?
I have always had a love for art and also for doing hair. I can't say there was an intention in starting, it just kinda happened and I fell in love with the business once it did.
What types of customers have you worked with?
My guests range in age, lifestyle, and much more. I have girls in conservative military positions and wild child types that change their funky hair colors on a regular basis. I cater to all by way of my expertise.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I once did an on-location wedding with a guest of mine who has been with me for over 10 years. I had the honor of watching this young girl grow from college girl who had just moved away from home into a beautiful bride! She had a wedding party of 9 girls, including herself, plus her mom and a flower girl. It was a long day and a lot of hair but my assistant and I had a blast and the girls all looked stunning!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Consultation! Talk with a stylist and feel completely comfortable before you begin services.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What best suits my features? What is my hair capable of? What am I capable of maintaining both in my time at home, the time I want to spend in the salon, and the money I want to spend?
