Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The phone call.
The coffee / cocktail meeting.
The plan, the contract, the calendar reminders.
The event or session itslef.
The edits and then the upload.
The prints and albums.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Screwing things up occasionally over the course of 30 years has taught me more than anything else ever could.
When things go wrong and you disappoint people (and yourself) you never ever forget, and are forced to learn how to avoid it in the future.
Working with better photographers than myself at least once a year for many years has been wonderful, too.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
If I had standard pricing, I'd consider my client standard, and I cannot do that. I listen to the hopes for the project and price it accordingly.
A couple rules of thumb:
Portraits generally start at $199. Weddings and events generally start at $2000. I offer both payment plans and bridal registry opitons, too!
How did you get started in this business?
My stepfather, a person toward whom I had intense resentment, found out I was creative and decided to teach me what he knew. Film photography. He got me an immense SLR outfit, and taught me what I needed to know to get started.
He became one of my dearest friends.
I've ever looked back.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Young ones.
Old ones.
Black ones.
White ones.
Gay ones.
Straight ones.
Lots and lots of amazingly wonderful humans.
