We know you want beautiful images of your family, all of you together, laughing, playing, being yourselves, but you want to avoid all the stress that comes with that. The right outfits, the grumpy teenager, the teething toddler. It’s our job to make those stresses melt away. And we do.
We live here in Western North Carolina, just like you, so we know the perfect locations to suit your family’s personality. Our studio, your home, a favourite park, out in the woods, under a waterfall or playing in a creek? All sounds good to us.
When we are done, we will have created images that really show who you are, not just what you look like and we’ll have a blast while we’re at it. So will you, it’s fun!
When it’s all said and done, there are no pushy sales tactics, no arm twisting, no maximums or minimums. Just great images. One thing is sure, it’s going to be tough to choose your faves.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
THE BOOKING PROCESS
If you're reading this then you're one step closer to having those family photos it's taken you so long to get around to. I cover family photography in Burnsville mainly, but also cover Asheville, Weaverville, Marshill, Marion and Morganton areas.
When you make the decision to book your family portrait session in you can either click the 'contact me' link at the bottom of the page, or give me a call (828) 527-1112.
We'll then have a discussion about any photography locations you have in mind, I'm also happy to suggest some if you'd like. I'll then get to know a little about your family to help me better capture who you really are on the day, because really it's not worth doing if you aren't getting photos that you don't feel connected to.
YOUR FAMILY SESSION
Like I mentioned, my sessions are pretty casual and relaxed, running about an hour. I will get a range of photos of you with your kids, the kids by themselves, and you and your partner. Then I pretty much let the kids go nuts. Nothing is forced, I'm very much go with flow... and really, that's when you get the best, most genuine photos.
AFTER YOUR SESSION
We may part ways after your session, but the fun is just beginning. I usually get pretty excited to see what pics I got after the session, so your final pics are generally delivered in around 2 weeks displayed in a beautiful online gallery for you to be able to pic your favorites for purchase.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Although it really isn't of significance, I learned as a young kid to operate a professional camera from my uncle. In more recent years I have taken several online classes and some workshops to continue my education to learn and keep up to date with new techniques and styles. I’m also a member of the Professional Photographers of America Association.

If you're looking for affordable family photography, you've come to the right place. My family photography sessions run for around an hour and are $125 which is payable at the time of booking, to secure your spot. 3 digital packages are available below to choose from, but there is no need to make a decision on this now. All package purchases can be made after your session once I send you your final gallery.
I won’t take up your time with a sit down sales session. All orders can be done through an online gallery with credit card and PayPal purchase options.
Once images are made available online you can save up to 30% off for the first 48hrs on digital orders (depending which digital package you purchase). I also offer a payment plan option if that’s what you’d prefer.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Some Questions I get Asked all the time
1. WHAT TO WEAR
Make sure that your outfit choices are comfortable, but look good. Dress everyone how you would if you were headed to a party? Neutral colours with soft, flowing fabrics and textures are great…. think creams, very soft pastels, wheat, light browns, tans, grays, and slate blues. Want a pop of colour and a bit of an edge to your look? Choose coordinating colors (but not matchy, matchy) with bold accent colors, such as hues of gray with yellow or bright red accents. Adding fun accessories like scarves, headbands, hats, etc. can add a bit of flare to the images.
2. GRAB A BITE
Be certain not to book in your family photography session around the kids’ nap or bedtime, or things could go downhill real quick. The best time for lighting is the two hours before sunset and after sunrise. If this is a bad time for the kids, let’s have a chat about alternatives. I can shoot at any time of day using open shade and still get a great result, but it can be a bit limiting as to where we can do it. Don’t show up to a photo shoot on an empty stomach. I meet many families who come to a photo session with dinner planned after. If this is your plan, be sure to grab a quick bite before the photo shoot.
3. DON’T LEAVE IT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE
If I had a dollar for every time a family arrived late for a family photography session I’d be a very rich man. It’s doesn’t worry me so much, but for you… Rushing around before a photo shoot, throwing clothes on the kids and screaming like a mad person can set the mood for your shoot. When a family shows up to a family photo session rushed and disorganized it can take a bit of the fun out of it for you. These are memories you’re making here, so you want them to be happy ones. Give yourself extra time so that you are ready before it’s time to head out that door.
4. COME ON DAD, IT’S NOT THAT BAD.
Besides the fact I don’t do silly poses that will make you feel awkward… I also make it quick and painless. These are moments you’ll look back on nostalgically when the kids are older and all left home, so suck it up dad! It’s an hour out of your life and once you see your happy wife and amazing photographs, you’ll be glad that you gave this time to your family.
5. HAVE FUN
Don’t be afraid to pick up your children and toss them in the air. Give your wife a kiss on the cheek. Tell your husband how much you love him and appreciate him for being there for your family. Have fun, laugh, joke, hug it out, kiss, wrestle… Doing these things means I don’t need to ask you on the day and avoids it feeling more staged. It also allows me to capture your family as themselves however loving/chaotic they may be.
6. BRING SOMETHING TO DO
Some of the best sessions are the ones when the family do something they enjoy together. It’s not essential, but it gives you something to do with the kids, and brings an authentic smile to your face. So if you like to kick the footy, or the kids have a favourite toy… or maybe you love to picnic. Whatever it is, feel free to bring it along. When families are engaged in doing something that they love together, it gives me (the photographer) the opportunity to take some beautiful and authentic photographs.
7. THE BEST PHOTOS AREN’T POSED
The best photographs are often the ones where everyone is interacting with each other. Not every picture needs to have everyone looking at the camera and smiling at the same time. If you are just hanging out as a family and being affectionate with each other, your eyes will be on your family members and your smile will be natural. These are the photographs that you will love the most because the moments are real.
