What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Deborah Hopping typically talks with the client about the project and what the client is looking for. Once we have a solid understanding of the project the client gets a project price or a project range of prices depending on the unknowns determined in the discussions.


What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Hopping has been in business since 1980 and moved into the digital age in silicon valley California where many of Hopping's clients come from. We get most of our work through repeat clients and recommendations. We are self taught and added professional photography to what Hopping can provide our clients in 2013. 

Deborah Hopping has a degree in graphic design.


Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

Pricing is based on project, client, application and medium. Depending on the the project, Photography starting rate is $250 hour and then additional costs for photo editing. Day rates for on location work can run $2000 - 3000/day. Most other is based on set price for project. Graphic services are based on a project price.


How did you get started in this business?

Hopping began when Deborah Hopping went from full time employment to being self employed. When Benjamin joined her in 1996 the business became Hopping Media and took off as one of the first web design groups and developed the first programming to put video online. 


What types of customers have you worked with?

High Tech clients from silicon valley. Pick one and we have probably done work for them at one time. We work with other agencies to team up on video and animation projects. Other agencies we team up for interactive media for sales support and presentations. Some of work is for smaller companies who need website design and support. We work with clients who are developing a business and need everything from identity, product design, to website and print. For photography, the range of clients is much broader.


Describe a recent event you are fond of.

For two years, Hopping was responsible for creating the opening video for Facebooks Infrastructure Summit event.

We worked with an audio visual group to create a multi-screed presentation that came off as 3-d


What advice would you give a customers looking to hire a vendor in your area of expertise?

Find some you like. Find someone you can trust. Find someone who will make YOU look good.


What questions should customers think through before talking to vendors about their needs?

Have you done _____ before?

Can you show me samples?

Do you have references for your work.

Know the level of colaboration you are looking for in a vendor and make sure they "play well with others" :-)
