Cloven Tattoo was realized in 2011 by Artist/Owner Christopher Carter. Christopher recieved his Masters Degree in Painting from the University of Washington and has been tattooing since 2005. Cloven tattoo has 3 artist to work with. Each possessing a unique style and character. From blackwork and fine line to illustrative neotraditional styles, we can provide the expertise you need in designing your next piece. We work to exceed all state health board requirments and maintain a clean, professional studio in Ohios most competative market.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Clients contact Cloven Tattoo with the idea and the artist they would prefer to work with. An administrator will make the connection between client and artist and an initial consultation appointment will be made.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Carter has a Masters Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Washington. All of our artists are licensed by the Columbus Health Board.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Take your time, visit several studios, shop as many portfolios as you can, and do not let money be the deciding factor. You only get one shot so pick the best for the job then work out the financial aspect. Make sure you are comfortable with the shop and the artist. A tattoo can take a considerable investment in both time and money. Its an experience as well as a product you are paying for.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Do research and find examples of style and aesthetic that you are going for and approach an artist that best matches that aesthetic.
