Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a "Together In Texas" approved pre-marital counseling program of eight hours of premarital counseling based on the Prepare-Enrich assessment which has been used by over 5 million couples for over 30 years. I have personally been using this curriculum for more than 130 couples for over 26 years. Couples celebrate their strengths and identify their growth areas (we all have them) as they grow in their communication with and commitment to one another.
I am a positive, non-judgmental pastoral counselor and hospital chaplain who commits to helping you be a stronger couple. We will use active listening, humor, and a touch of homework to help you not just have an unforgettable day, but a happier, more satisfying marriage for years. I invite you to call me with any questions or requests at 832-576-6716. I look forward to meeting you and serving you!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Besides my training in and use of Prepare/Enrich in pre-marital counseling for 26+ years, I am also a board-certified chaplain and hold a Masters of Divinty degree.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $175 for officiating a wedding and for the eight hours of counseling (which includes wedding planning, wedding rehearsal and the ceremony). The pre-marital counseling is optional but highly recommended.
If couples choose pre-marital counseling, The cost for the Prepare-Enrich assessment is $35 paid directly to that company through a link I have sent to you.
I remind you that getting a certificate for an approved Twogether In Texas premarital counseling course, saves you $60 on your marriage license and waives the 72-hour waiting period.
How did you get started in this business?
I began counseling couples and performing weddings in 1992.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with couples in Florida, Georgia, Texas and Nevada. I have served at destination weddings, wedding barns, golf courses, mansions, private homes, and churches. 25% have been couples with previous marriages. My couples have come from all walks of life--veterans, nurses, teachers, and much more.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A wedding on a golf course in Sugar Land at sunset was very memorable and beautiful. I worked with that couple to write their own vows. Their family and friends all commented how personalized the wedding felt.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Consider someone who will offer you pre-maritial counseling using a curriculum recognized by your state. In Texas, that will save you $60 on your license AND waive the 72-hour waiting period. Even more importantly, such a wedding officiant will be invested in you. If you are going to spend thousands on your wedding day and you want your marriage to last, isn't it worth investing in your marriage? That's what the counseling will do for you. And we ARE "for you!"
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Do I feel comfortable with this person? Will they make my ceremony personal, positive, and a reflection of us as a couple? Are they accepting and non-judgmental?
