Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Meeting with potential customer to learn their preferences, then advising them based on experience about how the music should accompany their event.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
12 years of experience. Close to 50 weddings and corporate events + experience as a club dj in SF.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Weddings start at $1,000 to cover the reception. If other services are needed (sound for ceremony, etc.) I will quote individually.
How did you get started in this business?
Bought turntables one summer, took a light courseload in the fall, and practice practice practice.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Engaged couples, people celebrating milestone birthdays, event planners, company holiday party planners, etc.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I do the annual Lucile Packard Summer Scamper. It's a family fun event for a great cause. Seeing people (especially some of the kids who have been patients at the hospital) dance to the music is very fulfilling.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Be patient and focus on the music. Lights, bells and whistles should be handled by an event company that specializes in that stuff. Focus on a DJ that can deliver the music to set the tone for your event.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Do you really need a dj or just a playlist. I do a lot of gigs where I don't think they really needed me.
