Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Contact client via phone or email to find out the particulars of their event: food style; elements; colors; rental needs, etc. With this in mind, we create a custom menu and experience for our client.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We are Chef owners and have culinary arts education. We have both worked as Executive Chefs for many of the top catering companies in Los Angeles and the Bay Area: Along-Came-Mary; LA Spice; Someone's in the Kitchen; Zov's Bistro; Stanford Faculty Club; Schwab Account.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
We create food for each specific event for our clients. Prices are contingent on the choices made by clients.
How did you get started in this business?
We've always had a passion for food. Our business was created from this passion.
What types of customers have you worked with?
All types of people. Baby showers to wine pairings; intimate cocktail parties to weddings; celebrity events which include movie premiers to yacht party fundraisers.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Our most recent wedding was a food marriage between a Vegan and a Britain from Thailand. The parents were very traditional, so we had to cover all the bases. Go to our website: www.chefsalacarte.com to see the whole menu.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
A caterer should listen to you and create an experience specifically for you. Don't feel obligated to settle for something that you don't want. Be honest about your budget.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Food likes and dislikes; types of food; dietary restrictions, etc.
