Apollo Entertainment Productions DJ Services
About
I have been in business for almost 25 years and have helped create some unforgettable memories and experiences for thousands of people in all group sizes during this time. Whether it is a small intimate birthday party or a large venue concert or music festival or wedding or corporate party or anything else in between, I have seen and done just about everything pertaining to music and entertainment. In addition to playing for some very high profile clientele such as the Sacramento Kings, the former California State Treasurer, the California International Marathon, Eppie's Great Race, the Sacramento Visitor's and Convention Bureau, and the Sacramento Greek Food Festival, just to name a few, I also do an excellent job interacting with all of your guests as a host / MC. Finally, I also have several years worth of experience as a club DJ which helped me to really hone my mixing skills to ensure that the dance floors always stay full once the party gets started.
My personal philosophy is that I want to do everything possible to ensure that all of the guests attending any event that I am playing for will have some fantastic memories and remember what a great time that they had for many years to come. It makes me feel very happy and satisfied to see everyone having a great time and this is why I have such a passion for what I do as opposed to so many other people who view this as strictly just a business and tend to just go through the motions. In this way, I am very unique and passionate and the results will speak for themselves. Although I am in no way the largest and most well known company in town, I do provide excellent service and will not send out other sub contracting DJ's to do a job that I have been hired to do.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I will speak with a new customer preferably by phone but also am always available by text or email. Once we have made that initial contact, I usually like to meet in person if possible to answer any questions that the customer may have and go over the details for their event. Once the customer feels completely comfortable and their questions have been answered, we will fill out the necessary paperwork to ensure that their date has been reserved on the calendar.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The best training I gained has come from my experience of doing hundreds of various events over 25 years, including weddings, baptisms, corporate parties, music festivals and concerts, school dances, proms, sporting event opening ceremonies, and private parties. In addition, I have several years experience as a club DJ which has helped me to develop excellent beat mixing and seamless blending of music together to help ensure that I keep the dance floor packed at all times once the party gets started. With this level of experience, I have also developed fantastic public speaking skills and I do a great job of interacting with all of the guests, unlike most typical DJ's who usually don't say too much and just play music.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing typically includes everything needed for a particular event from the beginning of the event until the end of the event. Pricing will vary depending on the type of event, the size, and level of complexity, etc. For example, the price for a smaller birthday party would be quite a bit less than a wedding or a corporate party. Many other DJ companies will charge the same hourly fee regardless of the event and I do not believe that is fair for the customer and that is why my pricing is based on a scale as I described above. Also unlike other DJ companies, my prices are all inclusive and not based on a simple hourly basis and then you have to pay extra for additional options that help drive the price up. My price quote includes almost anything that you would need.
How did you get started in this business?
The way that I started in this business is a very interesting story. For most of my life, I had always been a huge music lover and also played the drums for several years throughout junior high and high school and was in a number of bands during this time. Around 1995, a close relative had a restaurant and knew that I had an excellent collection of music and decided to do a huge party celebrating Greek Night and asked me if I would be interested in bringing my Greek music collection to the restaurant utilizing his built in sound equipment and providing entertainment for all of the guests. He would do this usually only once a year and go all out with a live Greek band, belly dancers, full dinner, etc and it would attract a large turnout filling up his restaurant every time he would do it. When he asked me to do this, he wanted to see if maybe this might be something that he could do a little more often instead of only once a year as he had done in the past. Of course I agreed to do it and the event turned out to be such a huge success that we ended up making this a regular event once a week for about almost 2 years and it was a smashing success. I was getting bombarded by many of the guests to play for a wide variety of other events such as weddings, baptisms, private parties, picnics, etc and I decided that since so many people were asking me to play for their events that I should do this the right way and make this a professional business and shortly afterward went on to purchase a great sound system and invest in a very large music library and my business completely took off almost from the very beginning. Although many of the events I did in the beginning were for Greek events and clientele, I eventually ended up doing much more non-Greek events over the years to where I can do just about any event today. The vast majority of my business had been by word of mouth advertising and referrals and repeat customers. It's hard to believe that it has been almost 25 years since this all began but it has been an awesome ride.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have been very blessed to work with a vast array of customers ranging from average people looking to have a private party to business owners, executives, CEO's, as well as famous professional athletes, celebrities and politicians. Some of my more well known clientele include the Sacramento Kings, the former California State Treasurer and other various statewide politicians, the Sacramento Visitors and Convention Bureau, the California International Marathon, Eppie's Great Race, the Sacramento Greek Food Festival, Angelo and Sofia Tsakopoulos of AKT Development, and the Sacramento World Music and Dance Festival, just to name a few. I have also been asked to play for events as far away as Seattle, WA, Portland, OR, Phoenix, AZ, and Los Angeles among other locations.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have so many fantastic memories from the events that I have done that it is very difficult to pick just one. One event that I have been doing for the last several years is the DJ / Host and MC for the Sacramento Greek Festival, which attracts up to 15,000 people or more and is generally considered one of the largest annual events in Sacramento behind the State Fair and Jazz Festival and maybe a couple of other events. To see the joy on the faces of the attendees while I am performing, especially when the party has really gotten going in the evenings and the dance floor is completely packed with people dancing and having a great time, it brings me a tremendous level of satisfaction and makes it all completely worth it. This is how I feel when I perform at all my events but that is by far one of the bigger ones that I do.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
The best advice that I could give a customer looking to hire a pro in this area is to look at the full picture when evaluating who to hire for your event. In other words, just because a particular DJ or DJ company advertises in multiple locations or has a lot of exposure, this does not in any way determine that they are better than a company that does not have the same level of exposure. This is especially true with larger DJ companies who have multiple DJ's as sub contractors because oftentimes you never know who will show up to your special event. Also, these larger more exposed companies are usually quite a bit more expensive in order to pay for the higher overhead and subcontracted DJ's. I have even heard of rare occasions where something happened and the DJ was not able to make it to the event at all. Imagine if that was your wedding or some other special event that you had been planning for a long time. I am very proud of the fact that over the last 25 years that I have never missed one event that I was ever hired for because I know how very important your event is to you, no matter what type of event that it is.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
In addition to what I mentioned in the previous question, you should look at a variety of factors including experience, professionalism, as well as price and whatever other criteria that is important to you. In my case, because I do not have the large overhead that other companies have, my prices will generally be lower or at least competitive with other DJ's. I will probably not be the lowest price or the highest price and I will do everything that I can to work within whatever your budget is. I am extremely professional and would never say or do anything that is inappropriate at any time and never have. I am very easy to work with and will tailor everything that I do to ensure that your event is exactly how you want it and will meet with you in person as often as you like to go over your details and answer any questions or concerns that you may have. Always go with your gut and that is why I feel so confident that if you give me the opportunity to meet with you that you will feel completely comfortable in hiring me and knowing that you made the best possible decision for your very special event.
