Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Talk or meet in person to get all details of event. To make sure that they are comfortable with the services that I will be providing and that I have all of the necessary information to guarantee that the event will be a success for the customer(s). Further discuss all applicable fees for services. Sign contract and secure deposit for event.
Besides the cost of hiring a professional for their event, they should consider whether the individual is capable of handling the event with the proper equipment. Will the professional show up and be ready to provide the services for the event on time? Will the professional conduct himself in a professional manner when speaking with clients at the event and will they refrain from inappropriate behavior such as becoming intoxicated while in the service of the clients?
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been involved in the music and entertainment business for over 40 years, serving as a working musician, sound and light tech and promoter and businesss agent for my former bands.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing is very reasonable and afforddable. I would prefer to discuss my pricing directly with the potential clients. It is difficult to just throw a price out there and hope it satisfies everyone. This is not a one size fits all kind of business, each clients' needs are special to the client and their event.
How did you get started in this business?
After playing in live bands working the local club scenes for over 40 years I started working with a local DJ offering them my services as a sound and light tech, after about 3 years of doing that I decided to invest in myself and start my own DJ Company.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Private parties, neighborhood parties and cookouts, trade show and christmas parties and weddings.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am fond of them all!! Each event that I get to DJ for all have something special to offer. Each is unique in their own way and the people that you have the opportunity to meet through these events all become priceless memories!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Find someone, first of all, who is honest and who they can trust and feel totally comfortable with. Also I would tell them to prepare a list of questions and concerns that they would have in regards to their upcoming event. If possible, ask the professional if he/she is able to provide references.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
The biggest one is usually the cost. They have to be well informed about the fees associated with the vender they plan to hire. Such as, some DJ Services will charge extra for doing the setup and breakdown of their own equipment, they add on extra fees for extended time...etc...
Also, they have to know that the DJ they are about to hire is reliable. I have heard horror stories about some not showing up or cancelling because they recieved a better offer from someone else. This all comes in to play when you are considering hiring a DJ for your event.
