What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Upon receiving a quote, we recommend an initial phone call to discuss details about your event and any questions. From there, we can meet in person to talk more or continue the conversation via email, phone, or video. We can then schedule conversations at various intervals leading up to your event which will ensure all details have been discussed and all expectations are clear. Once the event date has arrived, we will ensure an early arrival to properly setup equipment, discuss with staff about schedule/order of the event, and discuss with you any last minute details/updates/changes.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Michael has been DJing for almost two decades, is trained on various types of equipment and software, and has been employed by a variety of different professional DJ companies that helped hone the craft. Over time, he developed his own style that compliments who he is and what he represents.
How did you get started in this business?
Ever since middle school, Michael was making mix tapes for friends and was soon brought to parties because of his larger-than-life energy. He had the opportunity to learn with some of the best in the business and fell in love with the industry of bringing smiles to celebrations!
What types of customers have you worked with?
For the past two decades DJ Demby has been entertaining at all types of events ranging from corporate, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, Sweet 16’s, birthday parties for all ages, local events bars/nightclubs, and more! The drive behind what I do is summed by the feeling of when clients realize that their event is going to be fun, unique, and different. I have received some of the most touching words of thanks and detailed insight, about why clients picked my DJ services out of so many other great options. I love working with each client to help personalize the entertainment for one of the greatest day of their lives.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
The Virgin America NY holiday party was a memorable affair - the planning took a good handful of months, and the guests loved the music!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Creating your own playlist (or "do-not-playlist") is a great way for us to get a sense of your personality. On the other hand, asking your future guests for songs they want to hear, will give us a sense of your event's personality.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
• How many people will be in attendance at the event? • What type of venue will the event be located at? • What equipment will the DJ to bring (speakers, microphone, etc) • What types of music would you like played (or not played)? • Would you like the DJ to emcee and/or make any announcements, play games, or any other type of heavy guest interaction?
