Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It is far easier for a client to get to know me as a performer if they talk to me on the phone.
I need to know the details of the event, down to the exact timing of dessert service at a dinner, to the parking restrictions, the ages of all the guests, and the configuration of the room, and more.
If an event is to go smoothly without surprises that you're not expecting, communication is key.
I want my clients to be happy.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I had trained in Las Vegas with some of the top magicians in the world.
The investments I've made into my magic and business could have bought me a small house, but if I am to continue to evolve, those investments must be made.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing is based on a minimum of one hour.
Some events require a two hour minimum, especially if the event requires a lot of travel.
The number of guests and type of Entetainment will indicate hoe time is ideal for each event.
How did you get started in this business?
I started in magic while I was performing as an actor in theater. I became a street performer during the day in Boston and during theater rehearsals I would practice magic.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I've worked with every type of customer in every possible scenario, from top corporatations in the world, to performing on TV, for commercials and at hundreds of camps, thousands or private parties and for all ages. I've performed close up magic at restaurants for 25 years.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I love every event because it is another opportunity to share my magic and make people smile. I love performing my camp shows with large groups of kids, but I get the same performance rush from entertaining for 5 people at a family party. Every audience is special and every show is different.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Do your research, vett every performer by getting references.
Speaking on the phone is an excellent way to gauge someone's energy, and the best way to make sure every detail is covered. You can cover 10 emails with a single phone conversation.
Video is king, but I will say that getting quality video is very challenging, especially for family audiences because most people don't want their kids on video.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What are your expectations? Right now we have to be more flexible as the pandemic is requiring everyone to make adjustments. There are things we as performers just can't do because of the restrictions. Think about your event, the location, how many guests, inside vs outside, the timing, and your budget.
