How did you get started in this business?
I grew up always wanting to be a hair stylist. I went to college for court reporting originally out of high school, and then switched majors to Entreprenuerial Business, I obtained a degree and decided to go to Continental Beauty School to get my Cosmetology License at the same time I’ve been in the industry for almost 9 years now. I absolutely love what I do, and going to work is so much fun, I love working with people and making them look and feel their best. Most of my clients have become like family to me.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I’ve worked with all types of clients. Brides, women, men, children, grandmas and grandpas! I enjoy every aspect of cosmetology and I will do any service!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I have a client who had always wanted long hair. Her hair is fine and thin and we tried extensions for her. The look on her face when we finished was priceless and made my heart so happy! She cried and is absolutely in love with her new look! Making my clients feel good about themselves and increasing their confidence is what I love most about my industry.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Making sure that you have a thorough consultation with the stylist, have an idea of what you’re looking for and searching for a good match is the most important. Speaking up if you have any concerns or aren’t understanding the process in any way. Using pictures to depict your idea of what you want definitely helps, but aren’t always achievable. Which is our job to educate you on that if it isn’t. Being open to new ideas and maintenence of your look is important. Not lying about any previous color or services you’ve done to your hair.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Have any questions ready to be answered by your stylist, as they will know what is best to keep the integrity of your hair and how to achieve the look you desire.
