Making prom dresses and braiding hair was how she made money all through high school. More than 25 years later Essence, the owner of Sew Dope, is still making clothes for people, doing alterations and is now a licensed cosmetologist who still takes clients when she not working at her business.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been sewing since 1992. I was taught in a formal industrial sewing class setting. I have been making and altering clothes since then.
I have been doing hair since junior high school. I started out taking pay for braiding and twisting kids hair for busy moms. I'm now a licensed cosmetologist and still take clients.
