Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Hi...This is Mark, Owner of Party Makers. I truly enjoy what I do! I feel I go the extra mile for my customers from communication prior to the job, arriving early for setup and going with the flow once I'm at the event!
*I try to foster a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere at all events I work. The more comfortable people are in their environment the more likely they will let loose a little and have some fun on the dance floor.
* I am very adept at "reading" a crowd and playing the right music for the right people. I encourage requests and mix them in accordingly. I try to make sure that everyone at the party hears a song that they would like to dance to.
* I enjoy all types of music from all eras and instinctively know what to play with the requests I get and what to do when I see people respond to certain types of songs. Many DJ's only know one type of music or just aren't true music lovers, not the case here!
* My style is "low key but not shy". I can make any and all announcements and facilitate whatever formalities you have going on with a focus on music and dancing. However, I am also happy to incorporate games, contests and trivia into your night..
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Media Degree from Worcester State University. Twenty Five years of working in the Entertainment Industry with experience ranging from the Cable and Concert Industry to every aspect of the private party industry and DJ'ing your party!
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I always try to offer the best possible service at the fairest possible price.
How did you get started in this business?
Ran my college radio station and starting DJ'ing private parties when I was still in school.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Every type imagineable, corporate, organizational, kids, seniors, fundraisers, Weddings and family events, events for the mentally/physically challenged....from the most famous celebrities you can think of, to people like.....me!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am fond of my customers and our recent events (primarily Weddings) that have not taken place but will be, because we have worked together, sometimes re-scheduling the same event 3-4 times and still counting to make things happen.
I have given the many clients of mine who have had to cancel their weddings, whatever time they need to re-schedule for the best possible outcome and I can't wait for things to return to normal sooner than later!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
My sure your pro has references, fair pricing and proper back-up (which I do!). Two laptops and two hard drives on hand at all events and a spare EVERYTHING ELSE!
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Everything listed above and just make sure you feel compatible with the mindset of your DJ (i.e. they "get" you!).
