Born into a family that loves music, it's no wonder that Mz Rico has had an ear for music since an early age. Her early influences on music came from her introduction to Salsa music from her

Colombian family and a godmother who was passionate about Funk and Disco music. Also growing up in Houston during the time artists such as the Geto Boys, UGK, and DJ Screw were gaining national recognition, Hip Hop also became a major influence in her love for music. In grade school she joined the school band to further her understanding of music by learning to read & write sheet music. These influences have all helped shape her sound into what it is today.

Her first experience DJing came via tailgates and campus parties while attending the University of Houston and she used this experience to begin a professional career a few years later.

She has entertained crowds at venues ranging from bars and night clubs to larger spaces such as Warehouse Live, Revention Center, and Stereo Live. In 2014 her talents took her out of town for the first time, hitting the stage in Austin as well as parties and shows in a few other Texas cities. She has continued to develop her craft and was selected as an Official SXSW Artist for the first time in 2016 and again in 2017.

Brands such as Macy's, Sephora, Google, True Religion, Nordstrom,

JD Sports, Saks Fifth Avenue, & Victoria's Secret routinely partner with Mz Rico for their local events. These events range from fashion shows, in store promotions, product launches, and employee appreciation parties. Recently in 2019, Mz Rico was selected as the official DJ for the Houston Dash soccer team.
