Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always start with a consultation, even with long standing clients. It’s important to be on the same page before you begin any service. I like to have a clear picture of what the client would like the final outcome to be! Their expectation and what their hair is capable of plays a huge part in the consultation!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a hairdresser for close to 35 years! I’ve owed many salons on both the east and west coast! I was an educator for Vidal Sassoon in London and have done editorial work for major fashion publications such as Vogue, Cosmopolitan and Elle. Education is an ongoing process due to the ever changing industry! I use only professional products and ammonia free hair color! Healthy, Natural, beautiful Hair!

How did you get started in this business?
I come from a long line of hairdressers in my family! They say some things just come naturally and are genetic. I always loved the energy of a salon and making people feel beautiful, inside and out!
What types of customers have you worked with?
I’ve worked with all kinds of clients and hair types! From very coarse curly hair to baby fine straight hair. Each one unique. Teaching people how to work with their texture whether straight or curl is the key! The right cut, color and styling tools make a world of difference.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I use high lift tint instead of bleach when doing highlights! Unless you’re looking for Marilyn Monroe platinum blond, you don’t need bleach, it’s too strong. Color can get you to a beautiful blonde without the damage, dryness or breakage! I recently switched a client and her hair is half way grown out from using bleach. She can’t wait to grow it all the way out because the roots and mid shaft are so much healthier and shiney!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
If you’re looking for a hairdresser, go have a consultation. Meet him or her and see what they have to say. You’ll know if they are right for you by how you’re treated, what they suggest for your hair and how you feel after the consultation. If your not excited to have that stylist work with you, move on. It may take a few consultations before you find the right stylist. Any good hairdresser doesn’t charge for consultation so have as many as you like before you choose!
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
I always say it’s good to bring pictures and photographs of what you would like. Sometimes it’s dificult to express a peticular shade of blond or the movement you’d like from having your hair layered. There are so many words that can be taken multiple ways, a picture is worth a thousand words!
