Pastor Jay
About
No charge for my services. I am an ordained minister with over 40 years experience. I can also help with wedding coordination for the service itself. While marriage is a serious step, the ceremony should be joyous, even fun!
The wedding day is almost the pinnacle of the human experience. It has it all...Joy, Hope, Excitement about your Future, Family, Community...and CAKE! It is an honor to share this important life event.
As I said, I do not charge for my services (I do accept gratuities), but just ask that you pay for my travel at the rate of 50 cents per mile.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Usually I like to meet in person with the bride and groom to discuss their expectations of what the service should be. In these distancing days I am open for Zoom meetings and ceremonies. Although I am not a credentialed counselor, basic premarital counseling is available.
While for small gatherings of 20 or fewer attendees, I am happy, but not required to attend a rehearsal.
For gatherings of 20-50, it would be advisable for me to attend, especially if there are bridesmaids and groomsmen in the service. Otherwise it can get a bit chaotic.
For services with more than 50 in attendance, I STRONGLY suggest that there IS a rehearsal, and that I am in attendance. This day is too important, hectic, and chaotic to leave it up to amateur hour. I have over 40 years of conducting weddings and have seen everything that can go wrong, go wrong. Please, please, please let me oversee the rehearsal of the service. You, your families (especially the mothers), and the bridal party will be glad to have a pro facilitate the service.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
B.A. Bible & Ministry, Hope International University.
40+ years in ministry.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I do not charge for my services (gratuties are accepted, but not required). All I ask is that you cover my costs for travel at the rate of 50-cents per mile.
I am an Ordained Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and as such will only perform ceremonies consistent with the Biblical witness between couples that are heterosexual defined by gender assignment at birth.
How did you get started in this business?
My mom was the church organist. I began singing at weddings when I was in high school and so I became pretty familiar with the various types of ceremonies. While in seminary I was trained further, and in the ministry, seeing dreams realized is one of the joys of the job!
What types of customers have you worked with?
Young and old. 1st marriages. 2nd and 3rd marriages. Multicultural. Vow renewals.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
My favorite location was on the bluffs at Palos Verdes Penninsula, California. The couple came from Wichita, KS specifically to have a beachfront wedding. The view overlooking the sea was spectacular in the pre-dusk hour that day. It was A.May.Zing. The only problem was that the wind kept blowing out the Unity candle. We got it lit and they had their dream wedding!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
A marriage is a covenant between two persons for their mutual love, peace, and prosperity. The person officiating needs to recognize both the joy and the solemnity of the commitments being made. The officiant also needs to have the expertise to hold the ceremony together when something inevitably goes wrong so that this most important of days is a stress-free on the wedding party and their families as possible.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Dream big. This is your day. Be sure your expectations are met.
