Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically we'll either sit down with you for a consultation, or do an e-consult, where we usually like to gather as much information about the tattoo as we can and get a general idea of the layout of the tattoo. Once that's done, We give about a week lead time on drawings, and in that time we generally ask for reference photos. The art that is inspiring the customer is very important because that gives us direction when designing our clients pieces. After that, we confirm the design with the client and set a date for the actual tattoo, as well as take a deposit.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We are all fully apprenticed and licensed artists for the city and county of Denver, as well as hold a body art license for our studio from Denver county.
Each of our artists is fully barbacide standard covid19 certified, as well as BBP (bloodborne pathogens) and first aid certified. Many of our artists hold degrees from art schools even here in Colorado such as RMCAD.
We observe and exceed all industry standards for cross contamination and sterilization.
All artists are trained on all cleanliness procedures, as well as accidental exposure procedures, available to check out on site on our exposure control plans, as well as the material data spreadsheets of all of our inks, needles, and jewellery.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Generally it's an hourly game. We'll usually give you a price estimate in the consultation phase, then a solid price once we've finished getting a drawing dialed in that you like.
Typically the best way of estimating is $125/hr. Our shop minimum is $100 for tattoos, and some artists will offer tap outs starting from $500-800
We also ALWAYS take a deposit, which goes towards the price of your tattoo. It's generally 25-50% of the overall cost of the tattoo depending on what all it entails.
How did you get started in this business?
Sheer dumb luck
What types of customers have you worked with?
All kinds, from rich to poor, young to old, dark and light skin, we've done it all. The majority of our clientele are people in the Denver metro area, but we regularly service out of towners getting anything from a small commemorative piece, to portraiture!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Check portfolios. And don't just check ours, check around!
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
How much do you charge, and may I see your portfolio. Other good questions to ask are about aftercare procedure, touchups, scheduling and artistic preferences.
