About
For 34 years IONA has been performing traditional Celtic music and entertaining in Arts Centers, Schools, folk clubs, weddings and festivals all over the US and also the British Isles. We present songs and dances from Ireland, Scotland, Brittany, Galicia and Asturies, and other locations of the Celtic diaspora from Appalachia to Bolivia using traditional instruments and different. languages.
Our goal is first and foremost to entertain, but also be instructive without becoming didactic, along with plenty of humor.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Meet or phone to learn what the customer is looking for and be sure they understand what we do. If there is a meeting of the minds then we discuss date, location and what sort of equipiment they provide. And we take it from thre.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Barbara and Bernard have run the band for 34 years. They also founded and ran the Potomac Celtic Fesival for 10 years. They served as co-Directors of the Institute of Musical Traditions (Takoma Park, MD) for 7 years and have been producing the Old Brogue Sunday Celtic Concerts for 24 years. (Obviously these jobs overlapped.)
Jim Queen served in the US Airfaorce band for 30 years and founded and ran thier Silver Wings country bank.
Marsha Searle is Principal Dancer and Manager for the Footworks Percussive Dance Encemble.
Leigh Oben is a well respected bass player and guitarist with credits as diverse as the Peabody Conservatory and the Andre Segovia School in Spain.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Typically it is $2400 for a 2 hour concert. If it is more than 2 hours from DC we require overnight accommodation. There is an extra charge if we have to bring a sound system.
