Hey! I’m Kaya, a new DJ based in the DMV and an active member of Sigma Chi at American University. My journey into DJing started at the end of May, when our fraternity’s longtime DJ graduated and left an opportunity for someone new to step up. I’ve always had a love for EDM and house music, so I figured why not give it a shot?

I saved up for my first Numark DJ controller, downloaded the software, and started teaching myself everything from the ground up. Since then, I’ve spent countless hours practicing in my room, experimenting with different mixes, building playlists, and most importantly, learning what makes people want to keep dancing.

This year, I’m excited to step up as Sigma Chi’s official DJ. While I’m new to performing professionally, I bring genuine passion, energy, and a strong understanding of the music I love. I want to create the kind of sets that I would want to hear at a party high-energy EDM, house, and crowd favorites that keep the room moving.

For me, DJing isn’t just about pressing play. It’s about reading the room, knowing when to switch things up, and creating an experience that people actually remember. I’m constantly practicing and improving because I genuinely enjoy doing it.
