Several factors, actually!

It starts with the preplanning stages, working directly with DJ LORi, who is your hired DJ (no substitute DJ, or last minute changes, ever!) and finally at the day or evening of the event, with the right energy of music and choices of music, whether it is today's hits like EDM, Dance, Hip-hop, Trap, RnB and more, (which is her specialty, by the way), or your favorite era music like Retro, 70s-80s-90s and Alternative Rock, 80s and 90s Dance and Hiphop, Old School House music of the 80s and 90s , Freestyle and Heartthrob, 90s Techno, Disco and Funk, Motown, and more, since she has lived through the decades and actually knows all this music because she actually spun it back then! Her three decades of being a DJ in the nightclub scene carries with her extensive knowledge of the music :)

First, it starts with working directly with the client on the pre-planning details prior to the event date. Knowing what music the clients want, (which is the #1 important factor, of course), and tailored to their event specifically, (since we all know that no two events are ever alike, at all), and DJ LORi keeps contact through emails and phone calls. Creating an itinerary and time schedule of the private party or corporate event is the key to organizing the event, plus weddings are treated with much more details, as well, given that time management is very important to keep the flow of the ceremony and reception on key. Communication with the client and venue manager on details is an absolute must, of which is a crucial part of preplanning, too, and working directly with DJ LORi, so that there are no guesswork as to what to expect for your event. Vendors, such as venue mangers, photographers, videographers, caterers, etc. are, then, contacted the week of, regarding DJ setup, loading and more, and given the planned itinerary to all vendors ahead of time, which helps to keep the communication flowing flawlessly, without any potential problems.

Secondly, once DJ LORi has established all this, the day of the event, DJ LORi is ready to get the party started with the right dinner and cocktail music (if needed): upbeat yet not over-emphasized nor loud cocktail music, plus low key, yet not boring nor sleepy dinner music. And, finally, the real party begins when everyone is ready to dance and have fun!

Having over 34 years solid experience of being a DJ, emcee and host, DJ Lori has worked hard to earn her reputation as true professional who cares about her clients and the needs of their events. Her hands-on experiences has given her the ins-and-outs of what is required for establishing the right format for each and every type of event, whether it is background music, high energy parties, promotions for brands involving direct customer contact or specific details needed for private and corporate events.

Also, graduationg in the top of her class at the Illinois Medial School for broadcasting, DJ Lori has decades of radio broadcasting experience of being a radio mixmaster for weekends for radio stations such as Chicago's #1 Hiphop, Power 92 and Power1063 and many more.

Prices are based on the exact service needs of the event. Prices can range from hourly figures of $100 to $200, and includes top-of-the-industry state-of-the-art dancefloor lighting, room uplighting, grandeur top quality sound systems and whatever direct customer contact needed.

Back in 1984, the single fact that there were absolutely no female DJs, at all, was a start! Plus, DJ LORi's own entrepreneurial mindset of wanting to stand out from the men and create a party with the female mind in check was a huge factor, as well :) But, overall, her intense love of music, particularly nightclub and House music, was her true calling, as well as her diversity of love for Pop music and her favorite era music, Disco, Funk, Trap Hiphop. Working with people is another part of her outgoing personality, as she is a people person who loves to meet new people and make happy memories for people.

Such as NBA's Michael Jordan, the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Blackhawks, the Green Bay Packers, plus having the honor to DJ the offical after-parties for Kelly Clarkson, Kirk Franklin, Ledisi, and opening nightclub and casino shows for Hip-hop artists Lupe Fiasco and Ray J, MTV‘s Brad, CW Channel's "Gossip Girls" and Maroon 5 for The CW Channel, Carolyn Manzo ("Desperate Housewives of New Jersey"), Clinton Kelly (What Not To Wear and The Chew), red carpet host Tai Beauchamp, Tyler Perry and his crew of actors, and so much more, is truly a DJ's dream

In recent years, I've had the honor to DJ private events for NBA's Michael Jordan at his Chicago home, as well as working directly in retail stores like Swarovski and In-Style magazine with Hollwood movie stars such as Tyler Perry's movie stars.

The best advice available is to make sure you read in-depth of the experience, background of the DJs you are reviewing, plus fully understand the equipment and brand they will bring to the event. NEVER COMPARE DJS BASED ON PRICE ALONE! This is a tricky industry where many DJs do not purchase quality equipment nor upgrade on a regular basis, plus thier experience and knowledge of the right music needed for your event.
