About this pro

Hey! My name is LaShondra White (Miss La), and I am a licensed Cosmetologist. I take pride in doing a great job for makeup and hair to assist you in bringing out your natural beauty.

I have been free lancing and working as a Beauty Advisor for a major retail chain for over 5 years. I am a graduate of Douglas J Aveda in Royal Oak, Michigan. I have a Certificate of Completion from Glam Lab Makeup Artistry, in Chicago, Illinois. I am also Professional Beauty Association, Beacon winner for 2018.

I like seeing a person transform. I like to see their natural beauty illuminate. I like applying vibrant colors to a face, or putting together a flattering updo.

FAQs

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

For weddings: 1. Book a trial 2. Discuss a completed look (Bride will receive an emailed copy of the face chart for the day of look) 3. Complete and send back a completed contract by the deadline date 4. Pay for services, according to contract, in full 5. Upon completion a survey would be sent. It would appreciated for you to send back completed. For special event/party/birthday/night out: 1. Book service 2. Provide a detailed picture of what you would like to achieve (This is a guide. You CANNOT LOOK EXACTLY LIKE A PICTURE WITH NO PORES AND SUPER SMOOTH SKIN!) 3. Upon completion a survey would be sent. It would appreciated for you to send back completed.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I take training courses each year to keep my skill level up. Here are my qualifications to date: 1. Douglas J. Aveda - graduated from Cosmetology program March, 2018 (Licensed Cosmetologist, June, 2018) 2. Glam Lab - makeup certification from class in Chicago, February, 2016 3. Global Hair Extensions Course - completed hair extensions class in Michigan, February, 2016 4. Robert Jones Beauty Academy - completed Pro course, June 2015

Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

I price according to a detailed pricing guide for products used, travel time, and assistance (if needed).

How did you get started in this business?

I was inspired by the Robert Jones Beauty Academy online, and I was impressed and motivated. I wanted to use my education from my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Phoenix to be the person I need to be. I decided to step out on faith, and follow my passion of having my own beauty empire...on my own terms.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked on a variety of clients while as a student at Douglas J. Aveda, and as a retail Beauty Advisor.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

The most recent job that I am proud of is how much I am progressing with my blending, highlighting and contouring skills. "The compliments make me feel good!"

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

There are Pros and Newbies in the field of Makeup Artistry. Do seek out good, quality work, and customer service, but please do not rule out a Makeup Artist just because they are new to their profession. "Everybody deserves to start somewhere."

What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?

It's not just makeup I am applying. I am arming you with additional ammunition to be "the most powerful you that you can be." When you know you are all put together, (mind, body and soul), you will go out and be "FIERCE!" Also, "Does this person value skin care and prep before applying makeup?" Everyone cannot conform to what social media says!
