About
We have great deals on tattoos and piercings. The studio where I do my work is new once again, The owner had closed it down for some time due to medical reasons with his shoulder. The studio name is Mystery Ink and is owned by Chad Precord. It Is Very clean, friendly, and professional. We pay close attention to our customers expectations and thrive to give our clients the best experience possible. I have 37 years experience alone and have won numerous awards for my work. The other two artists including Chad have many years experience as well. So your in good hands with some of the best in the area.
I like to make sure each and every client gets the tattoo they have visioned it to be. And I do everything possible to make sure the pattern and tattoo come out exactly as expected. If there is anything that you want to change in the pattern you can feel free and comfortable to voice how you feel about it and we can make the changes necessary to get it to come out the exact way you want it to be. I look forward to working with you on your next piece of body art.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First thing is to establish what type of work you are looking for, if you have a design already in mind or if you need it drawn up for you. Next would be to create a design or prepare a design you may have to place on the skin to begin the actual tattooing. Then it would be to discuss proper after care procedure and follow up after it is healed to determine if a touch up is needed, touch ups are included in all my prices for the tattoo which is also discussed prior to the actual tattoo work.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have worked with some of the greats in the industry. Mike Dorsey, Permanent Poductions, Cincinnati Ohio. Jesse Zimmerman (RIP) Electric Body Image, Norwood, Ohio. Christopher Christ, Alien Arts, Savvanah, Georgia. I have also worked at Skin art in Erlanger, Kentucky. Jade Dragon, Middletown, Ohio. Custom Tattoos by Scott, West Middletown, Ohio. Tattoo Inc, Middletown, Ohio. Hair Hut 2000 Tattoo, Barber, Beauty, and Body Studio, Middletown, Ohio. Popeye's Lucky Ink, Middletown, Ohio. Custom Tats, Middletown, Ohio. Pain for Sale, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Black Sheep Tattoo, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Wicked Ways, Allendale, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Tattoo Scott's Tattoo, Middletown, Ohio. I have also been cetrtified in Red Cross training for Adult CPR, Standard First Aid, Blood Bourne Pathogens, Preventing Disease Transmission, AED Equiptment. I have also trained 3 Successful aprentices who have furthered thier careers and still tattooing to date. I have also had training in body piercing and jewelry making. in total 35 years experience in the tattoo and body piercing industry.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I have a minimum of $50 per customer no matter how small. This amount basically covers the cost for supplies used for the tattoo. Even if it is a small dot the same amount of supplies are used to do that tattoo. The amount of supplies used goes up when the size of the tattoo goes up over 2-3 inches. So there for the price goes up accordingly to size, time, and supplies used to do bigger tattoos. I try to be fair as possible to where it is fair for both parties, the customer and the artist. And all my prices generally go with going rates for studios in the area. So as to not under cut or over price the work to keep the industry in a good competitive balance, there is enough business to go around and I an definitely not trying to get rich off of one customer.
How did you get started in this business?
I have been in the tattoo industry since the age of 15. I was introduced into body art from an artist out of California. He gave me my first lessons in the field and I took off from there, now I have 35 years experience and have won multiple awards as well as opening 10 of my own studios at different times.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with a wide variety of clients. there is pretty much not anyone type of customer I havent worked with. I have worked with pretty much every ethnic and religous back ground, race, and belief there is or could have. The only thing I will not do is anything having to do with gang related or any kind of hate against any other race, belief, or religion. I dont want to associate my business with any kind of organization that causes any kind of problem with anyone in the human race. I also do not discuss anything having to do with politics, religion, or racial issues.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Events I like would have to be music concerts, bike rally's, art events thru the city of Grand Rapids like Art Prize. I would like to go check out Electric Forrest or Lost Lands in Ohio. World events would have to be things having to do with cleaning up the planet and helping mother nature to rebuild and heal the planet before it is too late for man kind to keep from going extinct.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I would make sure that you have an idea of what it is you would like to get, the size and area of what it is your wanting to get done. I wouldnt try to argue or complain about the price that they are giving you for thier work and time. when you complain about the price it makes us feel like your saying we are not worth the time we put into your artwork to make sure you get a long lasting beautiful sweet tattoo. when you argue with someone over price it has already offended the artist and therefore could have them lose interest in doing the absolute best job possible and instead of getting a bad ass tattoo your going to get a nice shop quality tattoo. and it will definitly be worth the money but you get what you pay for, so dont expect the world when your expecting discounts and good deals. We here the come on man hook me up bro just about everyday. the thing is would you want someone asking you for the hook up all day everyday. and always make sure you give a tip. in this industry we work 24-7 to do what we love to do. even when we are off work we still talk tattoos all day everyday. This job is not a hobby to us it is our way to pay our bills and survive just like you going to your job for a pay check. we have to pay half of everything we make to the studio for our booth space and still have to buy all of our own supplies to be able to do the work. So on a $200 tattoo half goes to the studio so now you get $100 and then the supplies to do the work average $25 per tattoo, so now it has went from $200 to $75 is what we are going to make on a $200 tattoo.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Think about how much you want to budget for a tattoo. How much experience does the artist have. and is there any work they can see of the artwork they have done.
