About

Marriage is a lot more than a contract. If you are just looking to make it legal, I'm probably not the right fit. If you are looking for a more personal, relational approach, let's talk. I prefer to get to know the bride and groom through a few meetings or conversations which helps tailor your big day to you! Also, marriage is a lot more than the big day ;-)

I enjoy adding personal touches to the wedding experience. Anyone can go through the traditional wedding ceremony elements (which I am open to, however), I just think this moment is bigger than going through the scripted motions.

All of the needed elements are included...I like adding touches of your lives from events, to things that make you laugh, etc.!

    Frequently asked questions

Let's dance! By getting to know the couple's personalities, similarities and differences, and hobbies, I follow your lead and add a move or two of my own. Not really sure what you want? No problem. I can guide you through various elements so you have a ceremony to remember. Let's start with an in-person or video meeting. After we connect: -The couple fills out a questionnaire -The ceremony is created based on your thoughts and requests -Review the ceremony and make edits -Finalize details -In person/Video meeting to ensure everything is good for the Bride and Groom!
23 years of working with people from college age to "seasoned citizens" and having the opportunity to celebrate various occasions and moments have provided insight into what matters to the bride and groom on their big day. In addition, 24 years of marriage to my wife has taught me a thing or two as well! I have held ministerial credentials since 2003 which has provided ongoing opportunities to learn and apply what I learn on a continual basis!
While my fees and what is included can be discussed and look different based on each event, standard pricing is as follows: Ceremony Package: $350 The Ceremony Package includes two pre-wedding day meetings (in person or video), comprehensive ceremony preparation and edits, drive time (within 50 miles), and up to 1 hour of ceremony coverage. Rehearsal Package: $100 The Rehearsal Package provides up to 1 hour for the rehearsal run-through. The rehearsal is a crucial part of the wedding process; in my experience, it can quickly become interesting. The stress of giving directions and answering questions shouldn't solely be on the bride and groom! My relational and administrative approach ensures your wedding party and family will be instructed on what to do and where to be, have enough time to rehearse, and feel confident walking into the big moment!
My wife and I were youth pastors, and a couple of our college-age leaders approached and asked if I would officiate their wedding (2005). While the focus is on the bride and groom, I had a great time!
I have worked with college-age and young adult couples getting married for the first time, middle-aged adults getting re-married, people I have known for some time, and people that I meet when they approach me to hire my services!
I married a couple in Downtown Detroit. Another pastor who wasn't available on their wedding date referred me to them. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them and letting them get to know me. When we got to their ceremony, they both had the biggest smiles and were confident in what was happening. Their family and friends enjoyed everything because we all worked together to ensure everything was in order, and the focus truly was on the bride and groom!
Pay attention to how the officiant you are potentially hiring pays attention to you both. While this can be a template-driven profession for officiants, there should be a personal and relational feel throughout the process for your big moment!
What do we want help with, and what do we need help with? Who will be directing the rehearsal and why? (Refer to the rehearsal package details ;-) What elements are essential to both of you for your ceremony? Do we have any creative elements to work through with the officiant? Are there any family or friends the officiant should know of, especially during the rehearsal and ceremony? Sometimes, your big moment is an opportunity for someone else to try and feel important. The officiant can help manage this when aware of this person beforehand.
