Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A thorough consultation is completed therefore a one on one meeting has to be scheduled in person.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have nearly ten years of on the job, hands on experience where I have apprenticed in every position within a salon outside of owning one under master stylists. I have completed my cosmetology license, cosmetology educator license, and two board certifications for Trichology in 2018. I also have experience being aboard a stylist team for a couple of fashion shows in 2017.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I have a standard pricing system that is the base for how I work and it is catered to every situation.
How did you get started in this business?
My brother asked me to help him start his hair salon in Washington, DC and I moved there to be with him for 6 years and Loc Lov Salon was born.
What types of customers have you worked with?
My customers range between the ages of 20 to 65, middle to upper class, multi-races (African-American, Caucasian, Asian), predominantly female and anywhere from college bound to professional athletes to council members working on the hill.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A fashion show in New York for the Master Pioneer Awards that I had the pleasure of being apart of as a member of the natural hair stylist team.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I would advise someone looking to hire a natural hair stylist to ask the right questions. Have an idea of what you want, create a Pinterest board of where you'd like to go at least. Believe that their recommendation for you is what may suit you best for what your goal is even if it may not be what you had envisioned. Last but not least, get a second opinion from another expert in the same field.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Will their experience suit your needs or wants? If their experience is far from what you think may serve you, can they bring something to the table that a more traditional background can not? Will they be able to handle all your needs?
