We love to work with our customers to meet their personal needs to get the dress fit them perfectly so that they can show off their best figure. Our seamstresses truely care how the dress fit on your body and take care of your dress as if their own wedding dress.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Most brides follow the steps below:
1. Book the alteration consultation appointment to get all your questions answered and get an alteration quote.
2. We can start your 1st alterations appointment right after your consultation appointment.
3. It normally take 3 fittings for bridal gowns and 2-3 weeks in between each fitting.
4. It normally take 2-3 fittings for bridesmaids, prom or formal dresses and 2-3 weeks in between each fitting.
5. An alteration fee deposit is required upfront before seamstress can work on the dress. The remaining balance can be paid off at the last fitting.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Most of our seamstresses have fashion design background and have been working with bridal and wedding dresses more than 10 years. We also have an internal process to certify our seamstresses to be qualified to work on wedding dresses. At Dallas Bridal Alterations, we do nothing but wedding dresses alterations. We're the experts in bridal and formal wear alterations.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
As each wedding dress may vary from fabric, embelishments, beadings, laces, ...and each bride may require different personalization to the dress. We have a standard alteration price list in-house for the seamstress to give the alteration quotes. Here are the most commonly needed alterations fee for a bridal gown:
Take both sides in: $100 - $300, Shorten (hem) the dress length: $100 - $400, Bustle the train: $80 - $150, Shoulder straps adjustments: $20 -$100
The average cost of bridal gown alterations is between $300 and $850.
How did you get started in this business?
Sewing is always my passion since I was a little girl seeing my mom created those beautiful master peiece. I started as a bridal dress store owner with a passion in fashion. I have seen enough outside seamstresses who doesn't care how the dress fit to the customer or simply just does not know how to handle the wedding dress. I got involved in helping those frustrated brides to get their wedding dresses fixed and alterated to fit their body perfectly!
What types of customers have you worked with?
At Dallas Bridal Alterations, we specialize in wedding dress and tuxedo alterations. We welcome all brides, bridesmaids, mothers, grooms, groomsmen, prom girls, and anyone needs their formal dresses to be altered.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
In the past couple of weeks, we happened to have 2 brides brought their wedding dresses from different tailor shops to us to fix the problems that other tailor shops were not able to fix. To see the smiles on those brides' faces and the relief they finally have, this is the best reward for our alteration work.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
We recommend you work with a bridal salon who offers wedding dress alterations service rather than going to an individual seamstress, tailor shop or dry cleaner. They may be capable of heming a pair of jeans or skirts, but they may not know how to handle the wedding dress, the lace, the beadings, the bonings and the material correctly. It's like you would not go to a knee doctor to ask him or her to fix your heart problems.
Ask them if they are able to take in a wedding dress more than 3 sizes bigger to fit you perfectly. If they start talking about extra charges for taking in that many sizes, they are not experts in wedding dress alterations.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
You may ask your seamstress:
1. What's her approach when you plan on losing weight?
2. How will she hem the scalop lace on the bottom of your wedding dress?
3. How many alteration fittings will you need normally for a wedding dress alterations?
4. How does she know if your body has changed since your last fitting?
5. How many sizes would they be able to take in or let-out?
