Choosing cheap isn't always a good move and often actually leads to you paying more. And if there isn't honesty involved, and the tattoo doesn't turn out how you want, the cost will sky-rocket. That is if the tattoo can even be fixed. Make a wise choice. Go to a true professional.spend what it takes to get exactly what you want.
What advice would you give a customers looking to hire a vendor in your area of expertise?
Take your time. The city/state does not license individual artists and has extremely lax licensing for a shop. So, zero training is required to tattoo in this state. Do your homework, there are amazing artists in salt lake and the surrounding areas. But they are far outweighed by artists lacking experience and training. This is forever and worth the research.
What questions should customers think through before talking to vendors about their needs?
everyone has a different want/need/desire for getting a tattoo. There is no right answer as to why. As long as you want it, you won't ever regret it. Realize that this is forever, and will become a memory in your life. Similar to looking at an old photo. Just be sure that your artist can inform you of any long-term issues associated with the area or tattoo that you want. Take your time... we always want things now. But this is forever, waiting won't change anything in the long-run.
