Luke hails from Waiheke Island, New Zealand, where foraging for produce and catching fish for meals was a part of his everyday life. Over the years, Luke spent time in Japan, Southeast Asia, Europe and also lived in Melbourne, Australia, before relocating to Birmingham.
Luke’s resume spans from world-renowned restaurants across the north and southern hemisphere to fine dining restaurants to cafe concepts.
Recently Luke has opened Current Charcoal Grill, which is located in downtown Birmingham, where he is Executive Chef/Partner and creates a menu that highlights and pays homage to Asian-inspired flavors, ingredients, and techniques with a focus on working with high-quality purveyors to bring a vibrant dining experience.
