Stratify, a nine-piece contemporary jazz ensemble, was established in 2012 by bassist and bandleader Doc Robinson. Initially, the band operated as a six-piece unit, exclusively dedicated to funky instrumental contemporary jazz. As per Doc Robinson’s description, “My objective was to assemble a band akin to Spyro Gyra, one of my most cherished contemporary jazz ensembles.
