My name is Gaetano Valente. I was born in Napoli, Italy.

Growing up in Italy, I worked in my father’s restaurant. He was the best cook and taught me all the trades along with my grandmother including making our homemade Pastas for our Feast Sunday Ragu’ Sauce. I still remember her guiding my hands to make it just right and I have never forgotten the smell around the house of her cooking. In that moment, I realized that I wanted to continue what my father started, so I decided to apply to the culinary institute in my hometown.

In the final months of 1987, my dream came true and I travelled to the United States of America.

I had the opportunity to work as a Chef de Cuisine at Martini Restaurant in Martinsville, New Jersey. My responsibilities were to create a menu and daily specials, to control the flow of food, and to supervise the helpers and wait staff. In November 1991, while working in that position, a Courier News writer, Suzan Tatle, wrote an article called “Chef’s Secret” about the traditional Italian recipes I introduced to the menu.

Then in 1994, I opened Ciao Restaurant Pizzeria in Metuchen, New Jersey. As the Chef and Owner,

After I sold the business, I worked for the Banquet Hall Manor of West Orange, New Jersey as a Catering Chef.

And, subsequently, I worked at the former Black Tulip in the Morristown Plaza Hotel in Morristown, New Jersey.

In 2000, I worked as a Banquet Chef for the Valley Regency Banquet Hall in Clifton, New Jersey.

In 2007, I opened Buffet Europa in North Brunswick, New Jersey with my best friend. We served a variety of European and American continental cuisine. Our business was awarded the “Best Small Buffet” for 2009 in the blog “the art of the Buffet or all you can eat is not a challenge.” (Buffet.blogspot.com)

With over thirty years of experience in the culinary arts and with the passion I have for this profession, I decided I wanted to bring the Authentic, most delicious cuisines from your favorite restaurants, but homemade for you and your family to enjoy in the comfort of wherever you wish to celebrate.
