Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I return emails/ tests/ calls within 2 hours, on average. I speak with them about their needs and set up a time to meet. Sometimes I will aks for a photo in advance.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been sewing since I was a teen and am mostly self taught with new challenges. If I feel I can’t do something, I will refuse the work. I won’t open a can of worms. But I will often find a creative solution for clients, that is a reasonable cost . I am honest, down to earth and offer them choices for them to decide.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I have a fixed prices on standard work such as hems, taking in seams and such. Other work is hourly at $35/ hour.
How did you get started in this business?
I started working at home when my children were born for extra income. It was not our main income. After my divorce, and relocation , I have used Facebook and other social media to network and build my business. Mostly it’s word of mouth based on my reputation.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Mostly moms, clients from local stores ( my business card is in many shops and malls ) and word of mouth in schools. Teachers tell other teachers, etc.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I love movies and theatre. I also love local cofffee shops !
I have few vices !
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
I offer my references and photos of my custom work. There are some samples of wall hanging and quilts in my home. Mostly, they have hear of me, and have trust. I think they just like my easy going nature. WYSIWYG.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
think about the skills, the reputation, years of experience, if you can understand what they will do ( language barriers ), how long the work will take, and that you have the right undergarments and shoes before you arrive.
