Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I love meeting face to face wherever they feel comfortable so I can hear their story. This allows me to provide them with the most memorable wedding message possible. I provide premarital counseling if the couple so desires.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have my MDiv and I'm a certified Prepare & Enrich counselor.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
For meeting with the couple once and officiating the wedding, it's $300.
For each premarital counseling session it's $100, anywhere between 1-4 sessions, depending on the couple's desire.
How did you get started in this business?
I've been a pastor here in KC for more than 25 years. First as a youth pastor at Colonial Presbyterian, which has led to me officiating dozens of weddings. I "re-planted" Leawood Pres in 2007, and our church of 12 has grown to 350, and officiating weddings is one of my greatest joys in ministry.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Everyone
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I enjoyed doing premarital counseling for a couple who lived in LA, but met and grew up in KC. It was such a joyous occasion to see family and friends able to gather together and share in their love for each other on their big day! Being able to work with the couple while they lived in LA, but enable the maximum amount of famiy and friends to experience their wedding moment together was awesome! I love helping couples weave their story of love into the marraige message, making it as personal and inspiring as possible.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Be sure you feel comfortable with the officiant, and that the officiant affirms your values so you ensure the powerful story of your love is shared on your wedding day to encourage you and inspire others.
