Pastor Hurling has a background in Psychology, Family and Pastoral Counseling.
He has volunteered as a mentor within the City of Detroit and Highland Park Public and Charter Schools system.

How long have you been performing weddings?
We have been performing weddings for over 25 years and have performed weddings for couples all over, in various areas.
Where do you perform weddings?
Our service area is always growing. Currently we serve Southeast Michigan, Wayne, Macomb and Oakland counties; and beyond.
Who are you ordained by and where is your church?
We are ordained by the International Church of God in Christ. The Church of God in Christ (COGIC) is a Pentecostal-Holiness Christian Denomination.
COGIC is the largest Pentecostal Denomination in the United States. The Church of God in Christ is an international and multi-ethnic religious organization. The international headquarters is located in Memphis, Tennessee; along with being established, in 102 countries.

Can we personalize our ceremony?
Yes – in fact, we insist on it! Pastor Hurling will ask you questions and get to know you so he can draft a ceremony that is reflective of your personalities, beliefs, and relationship. After the draft is complete, Pastor Hurling will email you a copy for you to edit if you wish to do so. We want your ceremony to be just right, and are happy to work with you on the draft until its perfect.
My fiancé (e) and I come from two different religious backgrounds. Are you able to help us?
Interfaith wedding ceremonies are one of the things we do best, and we can create a customized ceremony for you that blends your religious traditions while remaining true to both.
We would like to have a religious ceremony, are you able to do that?
Yes, Pastor Hurling is licensed and ordained, to perform both religious and secular ceremonies.
Can we involve children in then ceremony?
Of course! Children add a special touch of class to weddings; ie... Flower girl and/or Ring bearer.
How do we book your services?
Simply contact us via email: [email protected] to check our availability for your date. Once you are ready to speak to Pastor Hurling, our team will arrange for either a (30) minutes Zoom, Face Time, or schedule an in person meeting, to discuss your wedding and answer any questions you may have. We’ll hold your wedding date for 5 days while you have a chance to speak with Pastor Hurling and make a decision whether or not you would like to use his services.
To book Pastor Hurling as your wedding officiant, you must meet in person and sign the wedding contract; and make a 50% deposit and you’re all set!
If you are interested in an elopement instead of a full wedding ceremony the process is slightly different. Since Elopements are a more simplified version of a traditional wedding ceremony and are typically booked on a shorter term, payment is due in full at the time of booking. Please email: [email protected] for questions on your Elopement and to check availability and schedule your Elopement date. Once you confirm you are ready to meet and sign the wedding contract, your Elopement date is held for 48 hours.
When is my final payment due?
The 50% balance payment is due no later than 30 days prior to the wedding date. However, when booking less than 30 days before your wedding, or when booking an elopement, payment is due in full at the time of booking.
How much do you charge?
Our weekend rates depend on the date and location of each wedding, and typically start around $500 for a traditional wedding ceremony. Do you charge separate travel fees?
No, all travel is included in our package price. However, if you have selected a venue that does not offer free parking you are responsible for either validating or paying for Pastor Hurling’s parking fees. For destination weddings and wedding outside our service area, overnight accommodations may also be required. ANYTHING OVER 30 MILES, IS AN ADDITIONAL FEE.
What if I have to change my start time or wedding date?
While we try to be as flexible as possible in accommodating changes, we cannot guarantee our availability for a date or time change. Please let us know as soon as possible if you plan to change your wedding date or time so we can try to find a solution for you.
Will you come to our wedding rehearsal?
Yes, for an additional fee, provided Pastor Hurling is available. We contract ceremony rehearsals separately from weddings because most couples don’t want (or need) an officiant at the rehearsal. At a wedding rehearsal you are simply practicing walking in and walking out, but not the ceremony itself. We offer all of our couples a free guide to coordinating your own wedding rehearsal, which outlines a few simple steps that everyone can understand.
If I still want you to do my rehearsal can I book it now?
If your rehearsal is Monday-Thursday then you can sign the additional ceremony rehearsal contract at least 21 days prior to rehearsal. Weekend rehearsals are booked closer to the wedding based on Pastor Hurling’s availability. For more information about booking for a ceremony rehearsal please email us at [email protected].
Do you allow pictures during the ceremony?
Yes, of course! Your photographer and videographer can shoot whenever and however they would like.
We’re already legally married (but no one knows). Can you still perform a ceremony?
Yes. It is illegal to perform a “fake wedding ceremony”, so we simply need to see a copy of your marriage license before the wedding. No one will know the difference, unless you choose to tell them!
We want to get married but don’t want to do a big wedding, or just go to the courthouse. What are our options?
We have several options available depending on where you would like to be married, from in-home ceremonies to outdoor elopements. Please contact us via email: [email protected] and let us know you are interested in something simple, and we can help with a few ideas!
Do you stay for the reception?
Each of our couples chooses whether to invite Pastor Hurling and spouse/guest to the reception, it is certainly not required. If you would like to invite Pastor Hurling to the reception, please extend a formal invitation to him directly and he will let you know if it’s possible for them to stay.
I know we tip other vendors, but what about the officiant?
Gratuities are never expected, but are always appreciated.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Choosing the right wedding officiant is one of the most important decisions you’ll make during the wedding planning process, because the way your ceremony feels will be something you and your families will remember forever. Pastor Hurling works closely with each couple to create a fully customized ceremony that celebrates their unique relationship.
Our friendly and, professional team will create a memorable, heartfelt experience for you and your wedding guests.
Whether you are interested in something short and sweet, or a complicated interfaith or multicultural wedding ceremony, we are happy to collaborate with you to make your wedding ceremony exactly what you’re looking for.
Each standard wedding ceremony package includes the following:
Initial Consultation – We want you to feel totally comfortable booking our services, which is why we offer a free, no-obligation consultation with your officiant before you ever sign a contract. We typically conduct these initial consultations via, Zoom, FaceTime, or phone, but if you would prefer to meet the Pastor Hurling in person, you can certainly do so. We will hold your wedding date for 7 days, so that you can have plenty of time to speak with Pastor Hurling and make a decision before you meet to sign your wedding contract.
Planning Meeting – Once you’ve signed your contract and paid the 50% reservation fee, your officiant will be in touch to schedule a planning meeting. This meeting normally happens in person, but it can also be done via video or phone call as well. Your officiant will ask you questions about what you feel are important to include in your ceremony and get to know the two of you and learn about your relationship. This information will help your officiant in writing your ceremony to make sure it reflects your beliefs and personalities.
Ceremony Editing – Following your planning meeting, your officiant will write a full draft of your ceremony and email it to you for your review. You can revise your draft ceremony as much as you’d like until it is the exact wedding ceremony you want, and then simply email your edited draft back to your officiant. We want it to feel perfect – if you need additional suggestions or guidance, we are happy to help at no additional charge.
The Ceremony! – Your officiant will arrive at your wedding early to help coordinate with your attendants and vendors and get ready for the processional. We are more than happy to work with other wedding professionals, and are perfectly comfortable with photographers taking pictures anywhere they would like during the ceremony. Your officiant will deliver the exact ceremony you’ve discussed, and create a wonderful experience for you and your guests.
The Marriage License – Although it’s your responsibility to get the marriage license before the wedding, your officiant will take care of signing it afterward and filing it with the proper office. You’ll also get a copy of the license for you to keep, in case you need it for your records or on your honeymoon.
OPTIONAL SERVICES – Pre-marital counseling is available, which includes exercises to strengthen your bond as a couple and prepare you for marriage.
