About
I work with couples just like you to make your unique wedding ceremony a reflection of you. No wedding ceremony should follow a "cookie-cutter" format. Together we can design the ceremony to fit your own personality and interests. It is exciting to see couples begin a life together. It is working as a team and being a force to reckon with in this world of life. Starting in a marriage ceremony of commitment only lays the foundation for the great future ahead.
My prices are generally negotiable depending on the requirement of the ceremony. My basic fees are $100 for a local ceremony. If travel and/or lodging is required, I will add compensation at a reasonable price.
I prefer listening to a couple and hearing their personal interests and desires for their ceremony. I like to understand their unique personalities and tailor the ceremony accordingly. I will then create a rough draft of the wedding service to present to the couple for their review. Any substitutions, deletions, or additions will be adjusted to the content and a final script will be presented. I am careful to guide the couple step by step through the planning as well as the actual ceremony. Couples are generally nervous. Therefore, remembering what you are suppose to do is not always easy, so I give prompts throughout the ceremony. This is a celebration of the love you share as a couple. Breathe, enjoy, and have fun!
I have over 17 years experience in officiating weddings both religious and non-religious. I attended seminary with a BA and MA in Christian Ministry and am also ordained. Over the years, I have performed weddings in Texas, Kansas, and Virginia. In addition, I am certified in Marriage Enrichment.
As a teen and into college, I was continually hired to sing for many weddings and other special events. I never feared being in front of a congregation singing or speaking. When I completed my seminary work of 9 years (BA and MA) I was ordained and began to perform marriages as part of my responsibilities in the church. I have been requested to perform ceremonies in Texas, Kansas, and Virginia; both religious and non-religious. After deciding to not pastor a congregation, I continued to perform ceremonies and now have over 17 years experience.
I have worked with customers on a shoe-string budget to more elaborate ceremonies, congregations ranging from 20 to 500, short and long ceremonies, with a wide variety of unique elements that mirrored a couples' personality.
Large weddings are exciting, but it's the small, more intimate, weddings that seem to have the most meaning. Whether it's when I perform a wedding outside in a park or wine vineyard, or in a chapel or home living room, weddings need to be a reflection of the couple. It's the first public expression of you as a couple. It allows your family and friends to see your personalities as they merge into one. What brings me the most joy is getting to know a couple and establishing a report that creates a memorable moment that you will always remember.
There is nothing more disappointing than hiring someone to officiate your wedding that has no personality, doesn't take the time to understand you and your needs, and can't officiate with expertise. It is important to me to know you as individuals and as a couple and provide simple and practical advice as you plan one of your most important days as a couple. I will be available to answer questions, give advice when you seek it, and make sure that you will progress through the ceremony with little to no stress. Preparation is key to a successful ceremony and will result in memories to be cherished for a lifetime.
I would suggest that you ask what elements the officiate is willing to perform. The officiate should also provide guidance of additional elements you may not have thought about and be able to help adjust your ceremony accordingly. It is important to speak to the officiate to know their personality and sincerity in the service they are providing. Find an individual you are comfortable speaking to.
