Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We begin with a phone conversation with customer to discuss venue, location, type of event, menu items, style or theme and budget.
We ask the customer to visit our website and review our menu, look over our pictorial of different events and styles to give the customer a feel of how we operate and what to expect.
Once we have decided on the above we will meet the event coordinator on site of the event venue to work out all the essentials for the event and any special needs or requests.
Our goal is to take all the food and serving of the shoulders of the client so they can concentrate on a stress free event.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
This is a family run company all members are trained in food preperation, serving, and customer service.
All our recipies have been handed down and improved upon for over 40 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
We do not have a standard pricing system, all pricing is bassed on menu items selected, table ware (China or Paper), and whether the customer wants buffet style or servers, or we custom fit the menu to the budget provided.
How did you get started in this business?
We were all Firefighters at one time and cooked in our individual firehouses, after some time members of the department had private parties or wedding events that they started asking us to cater. Hence the name "Code 3 Catering".
The company has grown in reputation over 45 years.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We work with government agencies, private parties, churches, fundraising organizations, unions, non-profits, white-collar, blue-collar companies.
We have fed from 50 to over 10,000 people at one siting.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We have done the ElDorado Hills Search and Rescue crab feed for the last 35 years. Serving 650 people home made Clam Chowder, Salad and Crab with all the fixings.
If we were not the best they would not have us back for 35 years!!!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Food is just part of the equation, look for a cateror who will listen to your needs, adhere to the theme of the event and be clear about your needs and expectations.
Make sure they visit and understand the layout of the event location prior to the event to avoid any unexpected surprises.
Is there a kitchen on location, dose the cateror have a mobile trailer, what is the entry and exit point for food support, are trash can or trash facilities on site. etc...
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Budget is always the factor, If you are limited on your budget you may want to consider nice Paper Ware to using China and spend the money on the food. People will remember the food, not always what they ate on....
