About

“The sky is the limit, don’t you STOP!” The late Leola George is credited with coining this phrase, which motivated chef Zelda Born and Raised in the U.S. Virgin Islands to become the world's most exquisite chef. Many factors go into determining Chef Zelda's culinary style and what's essential while serving a culinary creation. Her grandmother's tremendous influence on Caribbean cooking influenced her perspective on food from a very young age. "At the age of five, I stood on a biscuit pan and made scrambled eggs for my entire family of seven people one early Saturday morning." And that was the beginning! I developed a craving and appetite for the kitchen after falling in love with it! And it didn't end there! Afterwards, Chef Zelda moved to Florida and enrolled in the Florida Culinary Institute, where she acquired her culinary skills. After that, she earned an associate's degree in culinary arts and a certification in hospitality and management. She got her first significant position in the culinary industry right out of culinary school at THE Boca Resort & Club, where she spent 25 years! She was highly respected for her diligence and commitment! Years later, these encounters would give her the inspiration to launch her own catering business, Flames Tropical Grill. Self-taught and with a background in cooking, Chef Zelda has become known for her ability to integrate several culinary traditions on a single dish and for not thinking that the food you create should just be appropriate for your own culture.
