Heal Folk | Ceremony Reimagined
About
I'm not exactly what some people think of when they imagine a "minister" or "preacher." I am tattooed, often barefoot, and was raised singing, preaching, and making ceremony in the hills of Appalachia. After leaving my rural hometown to continue my studies, I spent nearly a decade pastoring an independent, LGBTQ-founded church in metro Atlanta. As an artist and songwriter, I draw from a deep well of familial, spiritual, and artistic tradition. I pen my way through my story and healing journey, inviting fellow travelers to sing and dance along- that's you! My work as a ceremonialist has taken me from churches and town squares to lush forests and rushing rivers, holding sacred space and guiding contemplation for lovers, worshippers, and mourners alike. If you’re looking for me, you’ll likely find me playing in the dirt, hiking, paddling, piddlin’, or front porch sittin’ with my family in our Western North Carolina mountain home.
I love (and excel at) the art of interpretation. What this means for your wedding is that I listen deeply; I listen to your story, your values, your hopes, your intentions, and I interpret those to create an integrative, interactive ceremony that holds space for profound connection, meaning-making, and yes, even healing. My work is open and celebratory of all spiritual seekers, regardless of faith tradition or theistic belief. We will imagine together, using your custom selections of music, ritual, prayer, meditation, and literature to design the perfect container for your special day.
