Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Exchange of messages using email, text, phone calls. Then meetings.
Once a client has hired me, I produce a wedding script that we jointly agree on, we use for the rehearsal and with any minor changes, for the ceremony itself.
I also advise on obtaining the Marriage License and will return it to the County Clerks office for filing.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors Degree including Sociology (but I am not a social worker) and am an ordained minister.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I work on a fixed price basis. Regular cost is $159 for weddings smaller than 100 guests and $199 for those with more than that number attending.
How did you get started in this business?
After attending a friends wedding where the officiant was stumbling over words and didn't present himself with any degree of authority, I knew from experience that I could do better. So I started to focus on weddings and am now a mainstay in the area performing at least 60 ceremonies each year.
What types of customers have you worked with?
All types of customers. Everyone from ordinary, regular people to the ultra wealthy. I also perform same-sex ceremonies.
As I am in a mixed faith marriage myself, I know all about those too.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A large wedding at the Marty Leonard Chapel in Fort Worth comes to mind. T he couple and a party of 20 bridesmaids and groomsmen. I organized all of the ceremony, procession and recession as well as rehearsed everything and wrote the text for the ceremony with the couple's input. Everything was perfect yet it was just a normal wedding for me.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
A wedding is a special event, so make sure you meet with your vendors in person at the start of the process as it's way too late to meet them for the first time on the big day itself.
I would also advise to ALWAYS have a rehearsal.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
TIME IS PRECIOUS. Lets get everything done and completed more than a month BEFORE the ceremony if possible - you don't want to worry about things like the vows when the dress and cake should be top of the list.
