Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I love connecting with our clients first. Understanding exactly what is desired helps us design the perfect shoot and the best photograph.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Mark has been a professional photographer since 1995 specializing in commercial, portraiture, and wedding photography. Recognized for his compelling work with light, Mark has carved out a unique niche in the world of Hollywood Lighting that has catapulted him to the top of his field. He in fact, trained in Hollywood under the mentorship of George Hurrell's lifelong assistant.
In addition to photography, Mark holds a degree in Music Composition from Biola University, (a working professional musician since age 13) a discipline that has influenced his ability to compose with light, interpret movement, and to add or omit only that which adds meaning to a composition. Music, like photography, has everything to do with visualization - timing, foreground, and background interest all with the intent of creating one meaningful piece for the listener...the viewer.

How did you get started in this business?
Mark started shooting weddings in LA back in 1995 for friends and quickly began to realize he not only loved it, he was quite good at it. He soon was working with George Hurrell's assistant which propelled him into the world of commercial/fashion work. With developing and retouching his own work, he soon became known for master work at retouching on film negatives....all of this has continued forward can be seen in his artistic work of today
What types of customers have you worked with?
We work with anyone..and LOVE it. Being creatives, we love diversity and trying new things....so we've worked and done just about everything.
From a micro cowboy wedding in the desert to a huge fantasy wedding at Disneyland, from a gradution picture to a high fashion shoot in LA, from an intimate family shoot in the desert to a grand corporate event at top golf....we love our clients, and unique experiences, one and all.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We loved a recent wedding we did in Avondale. Not only was it fun shooting the bride and groom in their horse and carriage.. and the mariachi's that greeted them as they arrived at the wedding...we especially loved capturing the intimate moments that happened throughout the wedding and reception. The groom's father was diagnosed with Cancer, so they had moved their date up earlier....we were able to preserve so many memories for this family...and it was such an honor. We love them! (Their father passed away two weeks after the ceremony)
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Honestly, you get what you pay for. You're not really saving money by allowing price to be your key criteria. Beyond the necessary skill, and appropriate equipment, required to bring a quality product, we believe the connection between photographer and client is crucial....Trusting your photographer 'gets you,' and can bring your vision to fruition is paramount!
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Who is your audience (who are you taking the picture for...? What message are you wanting to communicate? Do you have a location in mind? Where will your photographs be enjoyed?
