Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Please let me know what date your event or availability is when you contact me to see first if I'm available.
I like to get to know the customer and what their expectations are of the assignment, either by phone or in person. For example, do they want an authentic photograph, that's not posed, or overyly light. Or do they want a formal look, for their profile page on social media. I also want them to feel as comfortable as possible in front of a camera!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BFA from San Francisco Art Institute. I've been shooting professionally for 17 years.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
My rates are fair, and in relation to the assignment. Please inquire.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I've worked with a wide range of customers from film directors, actors, artists, tech workers, and pets!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I recently worked with a marketing professional at a large tech business. She said she wasn't looking forward to the shoot all day becasue she hates being photographed. She told me after the shoot she was so at ease and I made the shoot enjoyable and thanked me for it. I was so glad I made her comfortable and she told me this because sometimes shoots are quick and I don't know how a person feels about being photographed.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Look at their samples carefully. Talk to them about your expectations and what you need from the photo shoot. Retouching, waradrobe is really important, indoors, outdoors, lighting, etc.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What to wear, make-up/hair stylists, posing, and see above.
