Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Customers can call us at 818.927.4274 or email Thelma at [email protected] to discuss party size, date and time of event, and desired cuisine. From there, we can tailor our base menu to fit the customer's needs. Our executive chef Doug has nearly 30 years of experience and has worked all over the world, including India, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, and all over the United States. We can make anything happen!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our team has worked their way up in the retaurant industry, learning through experience rather than classic training. As a result, we are confident in managing all areas of restaurants, catering, and general food service.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing for entrees typically starts around $15pp, sides are around $3pp, desserts are around $6pp, and housemade drinks start at $1.29pp.
However, we can create most custom menus. We specialize in Indian, Middle Eastern, American, Caribbean, and Mexican Cuisine.
How did you get started in this business?
Being from the Eastern US (Indiana, Georgia, and NYC for college), I found that Southern food catering just wasn't what I was used to. We started out with the CaliSouthern Menu and after a few hit events, expanded the menu with the help of the well-traveled Chef Doug.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Corporate lunches love us! We have done catering in group work style office buildings, traditional corporate offices, and corporate team building events.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Make sure there's chemistry between you and your caterer. Your caterer should udnerstand who you are and what you're looking for. We want to provide the best experience, so it's important for us to get to know you and understand your needs so we csn recommend the best package for you.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
It's really important to know who you're feeding. Are there vegetarians, vegans, gluten free people on your team? It's sad to see when a few people can't eat due to dietary preferences. With all of the food tech out there today, there are ways to make everyone's tummy happy.
