What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I find out what your needs are, and offer the best package of services at a great value. No job is too small.
Let me know who you are and your reason for seeing a photographer and we will go from there. The more information you can give me, the better I can serve you.
Don't be shy about your needs or budget.
For example:
What are you using the photos for? How many different looks (outfits) would you like to be photographed in? Do you need prints, or will the final results be used digital only? Where would you like to shoot? Studio, indoor location, outdoor location?
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
BFA in Professional Photgraphy from The Academy Of Art University in San Francisco.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
The most basic idea of my creative fee for private clients is $100/hour, but many types of jobs have industry standard rates. Photographers typically don't charge by the hour. We charge for the job, based on the client needs, usage, and budget.

The proof is in the portfolio. Look for someone who has already created the work you need. Any true professional has a website, not just an Instagram or Facebook.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What will you actually use? Being practical about your needs will keep the budget low!
