Jamie Budge
About
I worked as a freelance for the National Enquirer and related publications for decades (not as a papparzzi). And my work sold to publications around to world (as long as there were publications on paper). My work has always been celebrated.
Photography has alway been in my blood. While taking photography classes at Santa Monica (City) College, I was also working on a surf film, thelivingcurl.com. It has now become a "cult classic" of those times. I got straight "A's" in my classes, and when I went back decades later, they said my portfolio was the most professional any student had ever showed them. I'm sort of like a cat chasing a ball when it comes to photography, I just get lost in the pursuit of the best possible shots.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Communication.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been a photographer, film and video producer for over 50 years. I got mostly "A's" at SMCC when I studied photography. When I went back decades later and showed them my published work, they said I was the most professional student they'd ever graduated. I've worked for decades for the National Enquirer and Star Magazine shooting human interest stories and death defying stunts. A taste of my work is on jamiebudge.com, which will be inclusive and expansive soon.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I've done "quickies" for as little as $100.
Or $40 per hour including any post production (Photoshop, LIghtroom, etc)
How did you get started in this business?
I was a surfer who made surf films to support my habit. My films at thelivingcurl.com have become cult classics of surfing in the 60's & '70's. And I expanded my photographic interests to commercial photo & film production, photo-journalism, weddings, graduation photo shoots, marathon and everrything you can think of . . .
What types of customers have you worked with?
All kinds . . . . from leading international editors and producers to aspiring models and nervous brides.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I've shot Burning Man 8 times starting in1996, when it was really untamed and wild. I've shot graduations for over 10 years, which are the other end of tame and organized.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Be open to creative interpretations.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What they want . . . and the process of gettting what they want.
