Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We prefer the personal touch. That means we set up an in studio visit or a phone consultation. It is our purpose and pleasure to get to know who you are as that is who we want to capture in our portraits. We feel it ios important to have a connection with our clients. Many of our clients become personal freinds. It's not just a photo session its a bit of a personal journey and transformation when you sit for us.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
As the owner, I regularly attend Portrait Master Classes. I then share information and techniques I have learned with my team. I am also very involved in my community and I am informed about trends but still stay true to my style.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Studio shoots start at $250.00 but my average customer spends between $1500-$2000
How did you get started in this business?
Straight out of High School. However I was a bit green about business and chose to go into the corporate world for over 25 years. About 10 years ago I discovered my passion again. Photography was my first love, I just found my way back to it. It is truly my pleasure to be of service to you with my photography wether its a personal shoot or a business shoot, it is my reponsibility to make sure I get the shots you want and need.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I work with individuals, families, groups and corporations. Sometimes we work on branding projects others are much more intiment. It really is about what you want.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am on the Board of the Pathfinders. We are a non profit organization that raises funds for the Palm Springs Boys and Girls Club and for Pathfinder Ranch.
In my opinion there is nothing better than seeing a childs face light up because of an experience that we are able to provide. We are active in participating at the Club and the Ranch so we get to know some of the recipients of our fundraising.
In addition to sending children to camp, funding needs and activities for the children, we provide scholarships to local youth for college.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Make sure you are dealing with a professional and look at their folio, ask for recent samples. Be clear on what you want from the shoot. It's really a team that creates the image, me behind the camera and you in front so its super important that you are emotionally ready and available. Some shoots are all business others are cathartic, capturing lifes moments.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What are you trying to portray (the client)?
How will (the pro) go about getting what you want?
In my opinion photography is about capturing a look and or an emotion. When both happen simultaneously, it is magic. That is always my goal in our photo session.
Thank you for taking the time to read about Red Door Pictures. We would love to be your photographer and friend.
