Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I ask a lot of questions to get to know your ‘hair personality’. What’s working, what’s not working, what are your goals, how much time do you like spending (or not spending) on styling, personal style, etc. From that info, we can make a plan to get you from where you are to where you want to be.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
2 1/2 years assisting after Cosmetology School
Additional cut & colour classes with Vidal Sassoon Academy, Unite Academy, Redken, L’Oreal Professionell, Davines. Ongoing education with independent hairstylists: Brianna Cisneros & Shannon Rha, Jayne Matthews, Heather Chapman & others.
Education is one of my passions- I can’t ever imagine ‘knowing everything‘ and am always curious.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Women’s haircuts/finished style are $65.
Color/Highlights/Foil work, etc. are based on what your goals are & what we’re starting from. I’m happy to conduct a preliminary consultation via text using current photos of you and your goals. A quote can be given then.
Brazilian Blowout prices start at $150 and vary depending on length/thickness of hair.
How did you get started in this business?
I’ve colored my own hair from age 14, & would end up doing all my friends’ hair as well. It’s always what I’ve wanted to do. I love how a cut &/or color can completely change a persons’ look & how they feel about themselves.
What types of customers have you worked with?
My clientele mostly has fine hair. Whether there’s a lot of it or a little, it’s fine & needs movement & volume. I do a lot of highlighting & dimensional color, especially on ‘dirty blondes’ that need brightness as well as Brazilian Blowouts to refine texture & control frizz. Yes, Brazilian Blowouts are for fine haired girls as well!! They enable you to keep your hair in optimal condition since less heat styling will be necessary. This lets my fine-haired girls grow their hair longer than they’ve ever had before. I also love working with natural texture.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Most recent was Christmas & New Years Eve. I love to get together with friends & family as well as be in the festival atmosphere of the holidays.
Concerts are also my favorite. A group of people all sharing the music & experience together.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Photos are ALWAYS welcome. I’ll never forget the client who came in with severely damaged hair who wanted be ‘more blonde’. Turns out, she wanted to be a darker blonde. Luckily, we had looked at some photos of my previous work for reference, because there was no way I could have made her ‘more blonde’, & when she saw this darker blonde, she said that that was what she’d been wanting & kept getting more bleached out instead. There’s so many shades of blonde & we don’t always use the same descriptions so photos are very helpful.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
How much time/effort they are willing to spend every day styling their hair, because hair doesn’t usually style itself.
Can they maintain their goal cut &/or color in both time & cost? A great cut or color may not stay great beyond 6/8/10 weeks.
Do they have the same hair thickness or texture of their inspiration photo? Not all hair is the same.
