Moya was opened in 2010 by Fana Alemayehu. She came to San Francisco from Ethiopia in the early 80s and Moya was her first opportunity to showcase her cooking. She is regarded as an excellent chef amongst her family and friends and is known to bring people together with her incredible dishes. Fana's goal was to open a space where people could enjoy authentic Ethiopian cuisine. At Moya, we serve authentic Ethiopian dishes using spices prepared especially for Fana by her mother in Ethiopia.
