I create intimate and intriguing stories about my subjects, and provide a fun and relaxed experience - bringing out the beauty in each person with connection and validation. I am interested in people and produce what they want to say in their photographs. Expert Photoshop retouching is available.
Have taught photography at Academy of Art University, earned awards, have BA degree in both Photography and Anthropology, member and former Board of Directors officer of APA (American Photographic Artists)
I love photography! Love working with all kinds of people, getting to know them, and validating them through directing - bringing out the magic in each person!
I also love lighting, composition, color, black & white, and creating a feeling/mood in pictures. I love the changing nature of photography as trends change.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Fun all-day shoot with "Down-Under" Bluegrass Band, Mustered Courage. Location scout all over San Francisco, selecting animated, colorful muraled walls as backgrounds. We started in the Haight-Ashbury, using 4-5 different backgrounds, and they performed on the street as we were shooting - entertaining passers-by; then we moved to the Mission District and shot in a fabulous alleyway, painted with different-feeling murals. We shot group, and different combos of individuals, as well as single portraits, all used for their publicity/website through Universal Music, Australia. I directed the group to do still posing as well as wilder tossing of instruments to each other in the air, and walking in the alleyway to capture movement. Great high energy!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
To do research and understand the quality of the work they need. To confer as much as needed to prepare properly for the photoshoot, i.e., hiring of makeup/hair artist (done by photographer), proper clothes styling for the types of photos needed, i.e., business, casual, glam, activewear, closeup headshot.
Be open to photographer's suggestions, and inform photographer of purpose of their photos. Let the photographer do the creative work
Know what their budget is, and be open to discussing the costs of the shoot with the photographer, according to the scope of the project.
